    The idea of Shopify started in 2004 between 3 friends Tobias Lütke, Daniel Weinand, and Scott Lake. It started with the three friends wanting to sell snowboarding equipment through their store called Snowdevil. Lütke was the programmer and begin working on the project to create an e-commerce platform, and after he developed for 2 months this was when Snowdevil was launched. Then in 2006, the platform which was hosting Snowdevil was launched as Shopify.

    Requirements

    To use Shopify you will need a computer and an internet connection. You do not need any specific software or features to use Shopify.

    Hosted/Self-Hosted

    When you pay the monthly fee for Shopify a hosting plan is provided with your webpages. You can use your own hosted platforms and still use Shopify features without using their hosting options.

    Cost

    You can get a free 3-day trail to use Shopify, but after the 3 days, you will need to pay for a subscription to use the platform. Three options are starting with the Basic plan which starts at $39 monthly. The next option is the Advanced plan with is $399 a month, and then finally is the Plus plan which is $2000 a month. Or you can pay yearly and save 25% off the regular prices.

    User Base

    Shopify is a very big name and is used withing big Companies such as GYMSHARK, Create&Barrel, Brookline, and many more. Shopify has over 5,300 businesses that use the platform and Shopify has more than 2.1 million daily active users.
